Position Description: The Assistant Fleet Manager is responsible for assuring daily fleet maintenance as well as maintaining compliance with the DOT. This role will be based out of Florence, South Carolina, but will travel frequently to North Carolina as well as our Southeast locations, as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain working knowledge US DOT regulations
Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed
Ensure vehicles are properly equipped with safety supplies, daily
Schedule regular maintenance on all vehicles
Ensure drivers have proper licensure and up to date training
Highly organized; able to keep detailed record of all relevant fleet information
Provide reports to management on fleet maintenance when requested
Highly logistical; a problem solver who can make decisions to solve immediate issues
Ensure vehicles are DOT compliant and maintain accurate record
Determine and submit necessary vehicle orders to fleet manager for approval
Create and maintain vendor relations, representing Squan in a professional manner
Ability to negotiate deals and establish rapport at local mechanical repair shops
Knowledge of towing vehicles in a proper and safe manner, when required
Ability to drive and deliver vehicles interstate as needed
Travel is required to fulfill the duties of the role

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED
Drivers license required
Familiarity with DOT regulations
